As you travel south on Route 51 from Pittsburgh, you'll pass through many townships and boroughs which border on the "51 Corridor". Just six and a half miles from the Liberty Tunnels sits Pleasant Hills Borough in the heart of the South Hills of Allegheny County.

As it's name would suggest, Pleasant Hills is three square miles of rolling hills and pleasant residents. Incorporated as a Borough in 1946, Pleasant Hills has grown to nearly 8500 residents today. What started out in the late 1700s as sparsely-populated farmland has evolved to become a bustling small town. Pleasant Hills boasts a low crime rate and high community involvement.

Pleasant KingdomOn most Friday nights in the Autumn, you'll find many Pleasant Hills residents in the bleachers of Thomas Jefferson High School watching the Jaguars roll over another opponent. In the late Summer, Pleasant Hills Community Day brings what seems like every resident of Pleasant Hills to the parade to celebrate their community. And on any given evening, you'll find residents walking the length of Old Clairton Road, much like vacationers walk the boardwalk at the beach.

There are many public and private schooling options for the children of Pleasant Hills. The West Jefferson Hills School District, composed of a high school campus, a middle school campus, and three elementary schools, was ranked 9th out of 106 public school districts in Western Pennsylvania by the Pittsburgh Business Times in 2006, and was ranked 18th overall out of 501 public school districts in the state of Pennsylvania.

Commerce in Pleasant Hills is as big as the town is small! When Century III mall, which borders on Pleasant Hills, was built in 1979, it was the 3rd largest enclosed shopping center in the world. The Century III area, along with smaller shopping centers and the Rt. 51 Corridor business environment, provides ample opportunity for the development of commerce in Pleasant Hills.

Pleasant Hills Fire DepartmentNeighboring Jefferson Regional Medical Center, a 376-bed facility, is an integrated system of health care services and facilities providing for individuals throughout every stage of life, from emergency admissions to long-term care, from inpatient hospitalization to home care.
