Assistant Superintendent employment requirements

Applicants must undergo a pre-employment background check and drug and alcohol screening.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. At least 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, maintenance and repair.

3. Possession of a valid wastewater treatment operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Class A,E Subclass 1,4 or the experience requirements necessary for an upgrade to the required certification.

4. Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of wastewater collection, treatment and plant operations for an activated sludge wastewater treatment process.

5. Working knowledge of supervisory methods.


Job Statement

Acts as assistant to the Authority Superintendent providing supervision of personnel for

the operation and maintenance of the Authority system; including the interceptor

collection system, three pump stations, two eq basins, twelve metering sites and a 5.0

MGD (Million Gallon per Day) activated sludge wastewater treatment plant that

includes the collection and reuse of methane gas.

Act as Superintendent when Superintendent is not available.


Examples of Duties

1. Assist Superintendent

​​a. Assist in scheduling, assigning and reviewing maintenance of all equipment,  ​ ​including ​ordering of parts and supplies. Supervise electronic maintenance of all  ​equipment. Advise ​employees of procedures during major equipment breakdowns.

​b. Monitor and evaluate the plant operation and verify that operational procedures  ​are ​being followed through inspection of reports / logs and visual observation of  ​equipment ​and operators.

​c. Monitor and maintain computerized work order program.

​d. Maintain operational procedures in accordance with accepted sewage treatment  ​ ​         standards and regulations.

​e. Assign additional work duties to the operators including determining necessary  ​work, ​clearly explaining expectations to the operator(s) and verifying completion.

​f. Answer / Mark - Pa One Call Utility Tickets.

​g. Keep Superintendent informed of all activities at the plant, pump stations and eq  ​tanks.

​h. Perform any additional duties assigned by the Superintendent.


2. Provide Administrative Support – Supervise the preparation of reports,  ​ ​correspondence, and maintenance of required records.


3. Answer Alarms – Acknowledge, investigate and initiate appropriate action to resolve alarms conditions at any time.


Starting Annual Salary: $100,000.00
