 WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT LAB TECHNICIAN
The Borough of Pleasant Hills is located in Allegheny County PA. The WWTP is a 5.0 MGD
Activated Sludge Facility with three remote pump stations and two eq basins. We are
responsible for treating wastewater from six different Municipalities.
Candidates must possess and maintain:
 Class A, E Subclass 1, 4, 5 or have the qualifications to upgrade to this certification.
 Valid Pennsylvania Drivers License.
 High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
 Accreditations for the following sample methods:
o Fecal Coliform – Colilert 18/Quantitray
o Residue, Nonfilterable (TSS) – SM2540 D
o BOD/CBOD – SM5210 B
o Ammonia as N/Distillation Variance – USGS I-3520-85
Candidates must be able to perform the following job duties:
 Perform all duties of the Laboratory Supervisor associated with the State Lab
Accreditation.
 Perform all duties of the Pretreatment Coordinator including the scheduling and
completion of testing for Pretreatment Program.
 Conduct laboratory tests in various stages of the wastewater treatment process to
ensure that all Federal, State and County regulations are met.
 Monitor and record test results performed by plant operators.
 Record test results of all samples and submit all reports to the proper agencies for
review.
 Communicate all plant changes or adjustments to Management.
 Work weekends and holidays on a rotation basis-4hr shifts, avg.15 weekends and
3holidays per/yr.

Base Pay Rate is $33.51 per/hr.
Pre-employment Drug/Alcohol testing and background check is required.

The Borough of Pleasant Hills is located in Allegheny County PA. The WWTP is a 5.0 MGD

Candidates must possess and maintain:
 Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
 High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Candidates must either possess or be able to obtain the following certification within 4 years:
 Class A, E Subclass 1, 4
Candidates must be able to perform the following job duties:
 Perform routine plant operations and maintenance.
 Communicate with staff and management of plant performance.
 Complete daily reports and log plant data.
 Perform testing procedures necessary to monitor plant performance.
 Must be able to work well with others and work independently at times.
 Must be able to work weekends and holidays (4hr shifts / average 12 weekends / yr)
 Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
 Must possess initiative, judgment, dependability and cooperation in performing work
assignments.
 Ability to operate tools and equipment used in wastewater plant maintenance.
 Perform cleaning and hosing of tanks and plant equipment.
 Perform other related duties as assigned.
 Starting wage is $31.39 per/hr for certified applicants and $20.40 per/hr for uncertified
applicants.

Base Pay Rate varies from $20.92-$32.18 depending upon certification status.
Pre-employment Drug/Alcohol testing and background check is required.
